Brother Maladax, personal executioner of Lord Eiterfex

An aspect of Nurgle which has always fascinated me is the bizarre religious fanaticism with which His followers behave. It's more selfless, in a weird way, than the other Chaos Gods. The followers of Nurgle are genuinely, insanely possessed of the idea that disease, suffering an decay are gifts that must be shared. I thought that it would be nice to have a character who has that peculiar zeal often associated with fundamentalist converts. This is how Maladax was born.

He wasn't originally a Death Guard marine. He was from a loyal Chapter (which one doesn't matter) and after a crippling defeat became convinced that the Imperium was doomed. Consumed by bitterness, he swore himself to the Plague God and trailed the stars in the wake of the Synod of Suffering, the very Plague Company who had defeated his Chapter. Eventually, he fought his way to stand before Lord Eiterfex himself.

Seeing the man's decaying armour and infection-addled eyes, Eiterfex was amused. He gave the fallen Space Marine the name Maladax. Thus reborn, Maladax fell to his knees, crying praises to Nurgle and Lord Eiterfex.

Maladax fought with wild, feverish fervour. He never maintained his armour, seeing it as the shameful legacy of a bygone life. Bit by bit, his power plate was smashed away, and what little remained corroded until it was indistinguishable from that of his adopted brothers. Even as his armour dissolved, so Maladax grew in statue, bloated with diseased. Lord Eiterfex was pleased, and named Maladax his personal executioner - he who would have the honour of killing loyalist prisoners who refused to turn.

The conversion for Maladax was simple - a Lord of Blights with the hammer's head removed and switched for a Bubotic Axe. A little thing, but enough to give him a 40k feel!

It is a simple conversion, but it works well!
